Growing up in Lagos, I was surrounded by African culture in its purest form. African textiles, traditional attire, and cultural pride were not just fashion they were part of everyday life. I watched generations of women in my family, especially my grandmother, carry herself with grace and confidence while dressed in traditional African attire.
Their clothing represented identity, pride, and storytelling.
When I later built my life in Charleston, South Carolina, I began to understand the deep the layers of history and emotional connections that many people here hold with their heritage and ancestry. Anji was created at the intersection of those experiences.
